Zolbien 20mg is the type of sleeping medication which is licensed to treat short term insomnia in adults. It belongs to the group of medicines known as sedative-hypnotics. It works by slowing the chemical activity in the brain to induce sleep. If you also want to take the medicine to treat insomnia then below are some safety precautions that you should follow in order to ensure the optimum use of the medicine : -


1) Tell your doctor if you are allergic to Zolbien or any other ingredients of the medicine.


2) Tell your doctor or pharmacist what other medicines you are taking or planning to take, including over the counter & herbal medicines, vitamins, nutrient supplements and herbal products. Make sure you are mentioning details of antidepressants, sedatives, pain relievers or any other sleeping pill. Your doctor may alter the dose of the medication or carefully monitor you to analyze side effects, if any.


3) You should avoid taking more than one dose of Zobien in the same night. If you have taken any other sleeping medicine at bedtime and you wake up in the middle of   the night then you should avoid taking Zolbien.its known as Zolpidem.

4) Tell your doctor if you think you have drunk a large quantity of alcohol, or use or have ever used drugs, or have misused nonprescription medicine. It is pertinent to tell the doctor if you have or had suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety or sleep apnea, asthma, kidney problem and liver disease.



5) Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive.The medicine should not be used by the pregnant lady because it could harm the unborn baby.



6) Tell your doctor if you are a lactating mother because if you will take the medicine then it could pass into the milk and could harm the nursing baby.



7) You should know that Zolbien may cause drowsiness, lower mental alertness and may result into coordination problem. Therefore, you should avoid driving, operating   machines or doing any other activity that may demand mental alertness.



8) Avoid blending Zolbien 20mg with alcohol because the result could become fatal. The use of alcohol can worsen the situation.



9) There have been reports of withdrawal symptoms, like dizziness, blurred vision, etc  in patients, following the abrupt discontinuation of Zolbien. The effects  become more severe if you were taking the medicine for a long term. Therefore, to avoid withdrawal symptoms, it is best to consult your doctor who will gradually reduce the dose of the medicine.



10)It is crucial to note that Zolbien may cause adverse ill-effects, which can be broadly classified under two heads- Common effects and Serious effects. Common effects, then it will go away once your body becomes habitual to the medicine. However, in case of serious effects, it is important to talk to your doctor. It may include symptoms like- chest pain, trouble in breathing,vomiting,dizziness,headaches,impaired judgment, amnesia, nausea, etc.



11)You should take the medicine only for a short duration, which should not be more than 3 weeks. It is indispensable to have a regular meeting with the doctor who will alter the dose in accordance to your health.
